Congratulations to Amanda Pemberton of Belvoir Warrington who ran her first marathon in Manchester in April and raised over £900 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
“I love running, and a marathon was on my ‘bucket list’ of things to do,” says Amanda. “It was an amazing experience, with a fantastic atmosphere and I absolutely loved it. Everyone has been so supportive, so I was really pleased that I raised so much money.
“My Gran died of cancer in 2010 and Macmillan were brilliant with her, so I ran the race for her and really felt that she would be looking down on me and be very proud.
“The last six miles were very tough, but I had friends supporting me all along the way and Gary and my children were there at the end, which really motivates you. Now I have to think of my next challenge – maybe I will try and get a ballot for the London marathon!”
