Benefits of joining a franchise - leveraging a pre-existing network.

When deciding whether a franchise is right for you or not, one thing to fully appreciate is the value of joining a network, which is what a franchise is.

The power of a network should not be under-estimated.  It's like "phone a friend" on steroids!

It takes a significant amount of time and effort to build a network, something you would have to do yourself if you were starting a new business from scratch.

With Belvoir, that network is already in place for you to leverage.  In fact, we have spent the past 20 years building it and nurturing it to create a co-operative culture between franchisees who all subscribe to the Belvoir philosophy that a strong network benefits all.

The value of a network is explained by Kevin Kelly's famous saying "None of us is as smart as all of us!".

Joining an existing network has a number of benefits:

1.  You have instant access a huge amount of knowledge and experience, meaning you can use other people's hindsight as your foresight.

2.  You can access support from other people who have been on the same journey you are on and who can empathise with you.

3.  You can use a network to solve problems and amplify your learning.

4.   You have a sounding board for ideas and strategies.

5.   You are never alone and you recieve a variety of inputs - an important aspect of growing as a business person.

The Belvoir network currently has over 200 offices, meaning that you have immediate access to a massive "hive mind" of knowledge, support, contacts, and ideas that are generously shared across the network, for the greater good of the network.

The support of our network takes many forms but, in the off-line context, franchisees have many opportunities to meet up through a series of events that Belvoir organise throughout the year.

Each March, Belvoir HQ hosts the National Conference where we bring in key-note speakers and industry leaders to address the network and share the very latest and cutting edge industry intelligence.

We also have the BNG (Belvoir Networking Group) meetings once a quarter. There is one in every region (7 regions)  and every franchisee in that region is invited.  

The meeting is chaired by a franchisee elected by the rest of the group, one or two central office directors also attend to give an update from Central Office and to take any advice or feedback and there is also a central office minute taker there so that anyone who can’t attend can still read the notes. The region sets the agenda and it’s very much their meeting to discuss what matters to them.

The regional Chairs then attend the National BNG which is held at Central Office each quarter. This is where the group will hear about and get to feed into things such as the marketing plan, and give any feedback or suggestions that may benefit the network. These meetings are also minuted and sent to the whole network so everyone can stay in the loop.

New franchise owners are also encouraged to contact their fellow franchisees who are nearby (or far away) and each franchisee gets the contact details of every single one. New franchisees are very strongly encouraged to attend their regional BNGs and are made very welcome.  Many newbies are overwhelmed by the support they receive from fellow franchisees.
