Belvoir was founded in 1995 by Mike Goddard and his wife Stephanie in Lincolnshire, adapting Mike's RAF values into a lettings agency built on customer service, professionalism and specialism. This business model swiftly became a franchise operation in 1996 when the first office opened in Moray, Scotland. Mike Goddard spent three years as Chairman of the British Franchise Association (bfa), cementing his enthusiasm for fair franchising within the UK and was Chairman of Belvoir until May 2019.
In February 2012, we became the first specialist residential lettings agency to launch on the AIM Market of the London Stock Exchange. In September 2013 we piloted a move into property sales with ten volunteer franchisees. This pilot proved successful and property sales is currently being rolled out across the network as an addition to our well established lettings business.
The business has gone from strength to strength and over 20 years on we have now successfully acquired three franchise brands taking us to over 300 branches nationwide. 2015 saw many records broken for our franchisees with one being the first office in our network to achieve an annual turnover of £1 million. 2016 still shone success with our first Belvoir office celebrating 20 years with us.
Michael Stoop is now Non-Executive Chairman of the company supported by his leadership team consisting of Dorian Gonsalves, CEO and Louise George, Finance Director, as well as a senior management team and a dedicated support team. Michael has over 40 years’ experience of the franchise market.
